HERITAGE BRANDS Go cruelty free with the Leaping Bunny
We certify cruelty free cosmetics
Hundreds of cosmetics, personal care and cleaning brands are certified cruelty free under our Leaping Bunny programme.
It’s the globally recognised guarantee that a brand has made a genuine commitment to ending animal testing for its products. Certified companies must meet our rigorous criteria, including independent audits, before we let them display the Leaping Bunny logo.
Tested on animals?
It seems that there is an ‘animal-friendly’ statement on every cosmetic and household product available, not to mention the different bunny logos out there. It’s utterly confusing and can have no real meaning.
The Leaping Bunny is an internationally-recognised certification for cosmetics, personal care and household product brands which are not tested on animals. Companies are subject to independent audit of their entire supply-chain monitoring system to check they meet the strict Leaping Bunny criteria.
Why shop cruelty free?
Did you know that 80% of the world still allows animals to be used in cruel tests for cosmetics? And almost all countries still allow animal testing for cleaning products. Countless rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice and rats suffer and die worldwide in routine animal tests for the ingredients that go into deodorant, lipstick and washing up liquid.
But it doesn’t have to be this way; animal tests are being replaced with quicker, cheaper and more reliable non-animal methods. And companies can use ingredients which are already known to be safe.
Make your world cruelty free
Making your world cruelty free is easy with the Leaping Bunny!
We are widely respected as an authority on animal testing issues and are frequently called on by governments, the media, corporations and official bodies for advice or expert opinion. We work professionally, building relationships with politicians, business leaders and officials, analysing legislation and challenging decision-making panels around the globe to act as the voice for animals in laboratories.
We receive no government or lottery funding and rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters to continue our work for animals.
With a history spanning over 100 years, Cruelty Free International has achieved so much for animals. Bringing the issue to public attention with our dynamic and determined approach, we have inspired generations of politicians, decision-makers and compassionate people to make a difference for animals used in experiments. As the problem has grown, we have stepped up to meet the challenge across the world, placing the issue on the global agenda for the first time. We have saved millions of animals from a life of suffering in laboratories, and together we can do so much more.
Established in 1898, Cruelty Free International is firmly rooted in the early social justice movement. Our founder, Frances Power Cobbe, was a formidable women’s rights campaigner and philanthropist. Previously known as the ‘British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection’ or ‘BUAV’, today Cruelty Free International is the leading organisation working globally to consign animal experiments to the history books
